In Interplay MiCAR and PSD2, MICA, MiCAR, Payment Services, Payments, Payments Law, PSD2

Are you a stakeholder active in the fields of payments, e-money, electronic money tokens (EMTs), and the provision of crypto-asset services relating to EMTs? If so, the European Banking Authority (EBA) would like to hear from you.

The European Commission has requested the EBA to explore, in close coordination with European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), the possibility of issuing a “no action letter” in relation to the enforcement of requirements on authorisation in PSD2 as regards services with electronic money tokens (EMTs) provided by crypto-asset service providers (CASPs) or by entities benefiting from the transition period under Article 143(3) MiCAR.

The EBA is, therefore, hosting a workshop to allow external stakeholders to convey practical issues they are experiencing or observing as a result of the interplay between the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCAR) and the Payment Services Regulation 2 (PSD2).

ℹ️ Topics include, but are not limited to:

♦️ authorisation;
♦️ initial capital and own funds;
♦️ safeguarding;
♦️ strong customer authentication.
